One of the highlights of the day was the discussion with Cathrin Mohr, who spoke about her own journey into research. The students also took part in an economic experiment conducted by Holger Gerhardt. In a so-called “Public goods game”, they weighed up individual benefits and social costs - for example when it comes to driving and cycling - and learned a lot about the importance of cooperation.
“I found it very interesting that we were able to find solutions ourselves and try things out in the experiment,” says 13-year-old Marlene from Liebfrauenschule in Bonn.
Vera Häckel from the economics program management is also happy with the event: "Girls' Day was a fantastic opportunity for the students to take a first look at the world of economics. We hope to have motivated them to pursue a career in this field in the future."
