There are four award categories for economics courses. One teaching award is presented by the Rectorate, the other three by the Department of Economics.
For this year's 2023/24 teaching awards, the evaluation results from the summer semester 2023 and the winter semester 2023/24 were taken into account. The winners are:
Category Bachelor compulsory area (Teaching Award of the Rectorate)
Helene Mass, Ph.D., receives the award for the course 'Mikroökonomik B' in the winter semester 2023/24.
The students appreciate the very good structure of the lecture, the clear example videos as an introduction to a topic and the method of first enabling an intuitive grasp of the topic, followed by clear explanations of theoretical concepts. The relevance of the topics to the current business world is clearly emphasized. The involvement of the students in the lecture is positively noted. The lecturer communicates clearly, answers questions patiently and motivates students with her enthusiasm for the subject. “The lecturer is wonderful!” is a unanimous verdict. She therefore received a weighted grade of 1.3.
Category Bachelor elective area (Teaching Award of the Department of Economics)
Prof. Dr. Andreas Kleiner receives the award for the course „Political Economy“ in the winter semester 2023/24.
The students appreciated the structured organization and effective time management of the course. The numerous examples used to explain the theory contributed significantly to a deeper knowledge and understanding of the topic. The time available for critical analysis and explanation of the associated methods was particularly positively emphasized. The lecturer was always well prepared, explained clearly and comprehensibly and answered all questions patiently. These achievements were rewarded with a weighted grade of 1.1.
Category Master Basic Module (Teaching Award of the Department of Economics)
Dr. Joachim Jungherr receives the award for the course „Macroeconomics“ in the winter semester 2023/24.
The Master's students also appreciated the clear course structure and the excellent explanations, especially for longer equations and intuitive macroeconomic relationships. The recorded lectures with good explanations were also rated positively. The interactive elements and the clearly recognizable room exercises related to the content of the lecture contributed to understanding. The interesting methodological discussions were particularly emphasized. The lecturer was always available after the lecture and also offered online consultation hours. The students described him as very intelligent, likeable and dedicated, easy to work with. He received a weighted grade of 1.3 for this performance.
Category Master Advanced Module (Teaching Award of the Department of Economics)
Maximilian Günnewig, Ph.D., receives the award for the course „Digital Finance“ in the summer semester 2023.
The students were enthusiastic about the current topic. When asked about teaching skills such as clear language, explanatory ability, preparation, dedication, time management, notes and learning material, Maximillian Günewig met almost 100% of the students' expectations. This resulted in a weighted grade of 1.1.
