The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven)2 is a Dutch-speaking university located in Leuven in the Belgian region of Flanders. It was founded in 1425 and divided into a Flemish and a Walloon university in 1968. The university has 40,000 students, 12 percent of whom are international students, and 8,800 staff. The Times Higher Education Ranking in Economics and Econometrics lists KU Leuven as the 48th best university in the world, the Shanghai Ranking in Economics ranks it 44th, and the Tilburg Ranking places it 86th (as of 08.2019).2
