Shanghai ranking by subject 2024: Bonn first place in Germany

Once again this year, the current “Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024” of the well-known Shanghai Ranking confirms the strength of the Department of Economics at the University of Bonn. In economics, Bonn is ranked 41st internationally, 9th in Europe, as in the previous year, and 1st in Germany.

Aapo Stenhammar joins the Department of Economics

Aapo Stenhammar finished his PhD at Aalto University, Finland, this summer 2024. During the PhD, he visited the UC Berkeley and the IIES at Stockholm University. Before his PhD, he did his MSc at the Stockholm School of Economics and BSc at the University of Helsinki.

BGSE application period starts 15 November 2024

The Bonn Graduate School of Economics invites qualified students to apply for admission of the combined MSc/PhD program. Interested students with a bachelor's or master's degree in economics or related disciplines are welcome to hand in their documents until January 15, 2025.

There have never been so many ERC Starting Grants at once at the University of Bonn: no fewer than seven researchers have been successful with their applications in the highly competitive European Research Council (ERC) funding process.

With their funding of some €1.5 million each, the researchers will be able to realize their projects over the next five years.
