Clara Brandi heads the research program "Transformation of Economic and Social Systems" at IDOS, together with Dr. Tilman Altenburg. Starting in the winter semester 2022/23, she will teach the Development Economics course in the elective section of the Bachelor of Economics.
Ms. Brandi is looking forward to leading the research program at IDOS while teaching at the University of Bonn and expanding the collaboration between IDOS and the University of Bonn:"[...] I want to advance research and policy advice that contributes to solving the critical global challenges of our time:
- How should we design economic policies to strengthen the global common good?
- How can we promote transnational cooperation in business and politics to tackle the climate crisis?
I would like to contribute new research results and impulses to central questions like these."
Professor Dr. Jürgen von Hagen, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Economics, highlighted the new opportunities: "The cooperation between our department and IDOS holds very great potential in research, policy advice and training of young scientists. With the joint appointment, a first step has been taken to exploit these potentials."
On behalf of IDOS, Anna-Katharina Hornidge, Director of IDOS, stated: "We are very pleased on the part of IDOS to structurally anchor the cooperation with the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bonn with this joint appointment. It is an important step for the expansion of cooperation in research, promotion of young academics, and high-level policy advice. The latter is particularly important in questions of dealing with the multidimensional crises of our time and economic science responses. The Department of Economics of the University of Bonn, which is top-ranked in Germany according to the Shanghai Ranking 2022, is a strong partner here."
